Halt on Sardar Bridge: Historic Traffic Jam

On National Highway 8 (NH-8), with each hour, the 50km long traffic jam has been leading to more and more congestion. Since four days from Monday to Thursday the jam has been there to trouble people and in more than 80 hours of jam, thousands of vehicles are stuck. On both ends of bridge the queue of vehicle is around 25 km on both sides. Ironically, the main reason for the traffic jam on Narmada River near Bharuch is due to huge potholes on Sardar Bridge.

It is likely take several hours to clear the traffic jam, although the Police teams are working to clear the traffic. On Sardar Bridge, due to potholes, the vehicles are moving at less than 5 km's speed on bridge.

Sources from Surat News revealed that, "Potholes are the main reason for the traffic jam near bharuch on NH-8 Sardar Bridge. To cross the highway vehicles are taking a long time and that has led to a major jam. The vehicles have to move inch by inch for avoiding potholes to safely cross the bridge".
As rain stopped in south Gujarat the road restoration work is being done at faster speed. Surat police admitted that it will take a few hours to clear the entire jam and they have managed to cover majority of potholes on the bridge and the movement of traffic will start by evening".
