Bio Metric System Installation: By Karnataka Government

In Bangalore from November 1st onwards the salary or the half day leave will be deducted for those employees who will reach office late. The biometric attendance system has been introduced by Karnataka government to discipline the errant government employees by monitoring their login time live online.

The principal secretary Shalini Rajneesh issued a circular on September 4 and that circular stated that, “The biometric system must be installed in all the government offices must install by October 31”. This will replace the old system of manually recording the attendance of employees in a register.

The system records the details of arrival and departure and any office-related outdoor duty when an employee swipes his/her smart card in office. The employees get a 30-minute cushion to enter the office. A senior official in the e-governance department said “Any delay more than 30 minutes attracts half-day leave or pay cut”.

According to sources of Bangalore News, some employees sign in the register for all the seven days and avail salary but they would attend office once a week. Some employees leave the office for unofficial work but sign the attendance register for whole day. This menace will be checked by the help of biometric system and it is beneficial for the government.

From the empanelled gadget suppliers the departments must buy the biometric reader system as per the circular, and the technical help will b provided by the e-governance department. "The system has been successfully introduced in the secretariat.
